Needl.ai-Slack integration allows you to sync all or specific chats into Needl.ai. Follow these steps to get started:

1.Link your Slack

  • Click on the All apps are synced bar on the top right corner, or go to the Apps & Website section on the left side of the app, and click on Add

  • Hover over the Slack icon, and click on Connect

  • A pop-up will open. Make sure you have read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before agreeing to them. Click on Get Started

  • You will be asked to authenticate with your Google account or log in to your workspace

  • You will see all your Direct Messages, Channels, and Bots listed. Choose the ones you would like to Sync from the list

  • Click on Sync. You will see a success message once the integration is complete

2. Modify your integration

  • Hover over Slack on the Connected Apps section, and click on Options

  • Click on Manage. You will see a list of all your Slack chats classified into Direct Messages, Channels, and Bots

  • Select/ deselect the ones you would like to sync to Needl.ai. Click on Sync. Chats from the selected contacts will start reflecting in your Needl.ai. account within 2 hours

  • Hover over Slack on the Connected Apps section, and click on Options

  • To add a new account, click on Add new account and follow the steps again. To Delink the existing account, click on Delink\

Unable to Connect Slack to Needl.ai?

If you encounter issues connecting Slack to Needl.ai, follow these steps for resolution. Please note that the following instructions are specifically for workspace administrators.

For Members:

If you are a member of the workspace and facing difficulties in connecting Slack, please contact your administrator. The administrator needs to ensure that the "Required app approval" setting is enabled for Needl.ai integration. Here's how to do it:

For Workspace Admins:

  1. Go to your Slack workspace settings - https://<your-slack-workspace>.slack.com/apps/manage/settings
  2. Under the App management settings, locate and turn off the "Only allow apps from the Slack App Directory" option.

  1. On the same page, find and turn on the "Require app approval" toggle. Enabling this setting allows members to request access to integrate new apps.

  1. Once both settings are done, members attempting to connect their Slack to Needl.ai will see a screen to request approval for the app from the workspace admin.

  1. As an administrator, you will receive the request in Slack via Slackbot.

  1. Review the request and, if appropriate, approve it to enable successful integration between Slack and Needl.ai.

FAQs

How long does it take to stream data into Needl.ai?

To stream Slack data into Needl.ai, it usually takes around 15 mins to 2 hours.

What happens if I delete messages on Slack that have already been streamed to Needl.ai?

Needl.ai only offers a one-way data stream. This means that data streamed into Needl.ai from another app or source will stay independent of the source, i.e., deleting messages on Slack after they have been streamed to Needl.ai will not affect your data on Needl.ai.

Does deleting messages from Needl.ai also delete them from Slack?

No, making changes to your data on Needl.ai will not have any effect on your original data source.

What happens if I exit a chat group or channel after linking it to Needl.ai?

Needl.ai can only stream data from sources that you have access to. If you lose access to a specific channel (for example, by exiting a chat group or channel), Needl.ai will also stop streaming data from that source.

Can I respond to messages from Needl.ai?

Needl.ai currently offers read-and-search-only functionality. This means that you can stream and search data from Slack on Needl.ai However, responding to slack messages from Needl.ai is not possible.
